So Microsoft is coming out with a tablet... in case you didn't already know. A video demonstrating it was leaked, totally by accident, not at all on purpose.

C’mon! Really? “Leaked”? Just like Gizmodo “leaked” photos of it recently? This couldn’t have been more on purpose on behalf of Microsoft. I guess it could be a smart move since the world is going nuts waiting for Apple to come out with one. This way they try to get us excited for a Microsoft product. Regardless, the only thing this could do is benefit Apple. Now they know what Microsoft is doing and can up their game. They’re calling it the Microsoft Courier, and it’s uber-multitouch. Watch the video below:

I’ll admit it’s a cool concept. I’m guessing they’re intending this to become your everything. I like the page scrolling, and the cutting and pasting, but I fear the user interface may be too complicated. I couldn’t tell what screen was what and how to get from one place to the next. It’s very fluid and I could see this being a hot seller, but it’s gotta have a couple of things; speed, storage, and all kinds of connectivity.

Would you buy this thing? If so, how much would you pay for it?

There are countless features I could think of that I would like in an Apple Tablet. But, since we can’t have’em all, this poll is the next best thing. You can vote for multiple features, so pick the ones you must-have. To be honest, I could see most of these making it into the device, but who knows.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

I have no doubt in my mind that Apple will release something along the lines of a Tablet. I think we can all agree on this. It’s also safe to say that Apple generally gets into markets for a couple of reasons, including the thought that they can make something way better than the competition.

Whenever this Tablet does indeed come out I have a strong belief that it will not only revolutionize the touchscreen market, but indeed create a new market altogether. Why, you ask? Sure, there are other companies out there that have tablet-like devices out already (Kindle, anyone?), but they couldn’t be farther away from a computer. What I give to you are two examples. One, the iPod and how it revolutionized the music market. Two, the iPhone an how it created an entirely new one. Yes there have been touch screen phones for a long time, but the iPhone is not a phone. It’s a stripped down computer with phone capabilities. We can finally carry a computer in our pockets and that is actually a pleasure to use.

Apple’s Tablet, I have no doubt in my mind will be of the same calliber. I believe it will be the first step in finally moving the (western) world towards fully touchscreen computers and do away with the keyboard altogether. Just like the iPhone and the iPod touch are caninalizing sales from the other iPod models, this Tablet will eventually begin to canibalize MacBook sales.

As we can all see, touchscreens are the way of the future. The keyboard is a technology almost as old as computers themselves, and is also the one thing that has seen almost no innovation since its inception. Keyboards are on the way out, and I can’t wait.

OK, so they’ve pulled out of Macworld, this year being the last year they will give a keynote, which is total crazy-talk in my view. I mean, how excited does everyone get when it’s getting close to January? However, this could be the very reason why they cancelled out on us (also perhaps Steve Jobs’ health?). When January gets close, everyone expects big things from the company, and if the keynote is less than stellar their stock takes a dive. Having keynotes when they damn well please, they don’t have to live up to people’s expectations. They can take their time and release things in any way they want.

So now apparently the Apple Expo in Paris has been cancelled. I don’t really care that much about this one, but hey, it still sucks.

I do think that overall this is a great move for apple. I think, in a sense, it’ll bring back the mystery of what’s coming next from this great company. Macworld will continue to go on, but this is kind of like having a Ford car expo without the support of the company.
