Ever leave your computer at home downloading a movie or an album? Ever leave it rendering footage? With Prowl you can get Push Notifications sent directly to your iPhone when these tasks are finished.
As many Mac users know, there’s a nifty little notifications plugin called Growl which alerts your when different things happen on your computer; a download is done, a song is changed, a new email is received, etc.
Well, thanks to a little thing called Prowl you can get those notifications sent directly to your iPhone as Push Notifications.
The first thing you’ll need to do is to register for a free Prowl account. After that, you’ll need to buy the Prowl app (iTunes Link, $2.99). The third and final thing you have to do is install the Prowl plugin for Growl. After doing so you’ll have to sign in with your Prowl username and password in your Growl System Preferences.
Launch your fresh iPhone app and sign in. That’s all it takes. Now, whenever you have new notifications on your Mac they’ll be pushed to your iPhone. In your system preferences you’ll have some nice features like pushing notifications only after a certain amount of time of inactivity.
