The fourth season of Heroes has begun and the writers seem to be trying to consolidate the show quite a bit from what it has been in the past. But will this help?
One of my biggest complaints with Heroes for the past couple of seasons has been the fact that it didn’t know where it was going, and when it did it went there with a sloppy attitude. There were too many plots, story lines, characters, twists. For the fourth season, however, the writers seem to have started a little slower and trying to take the show back to its roots.
We have a few lingering characters from the previous season, and we’ve been introduced to a some new ones (and I actually like them). What the show really needs is to slow down a little bit, and that’s why I kind of liked this premiere. Last season started off kind of weak, but as soon as the second half started it was badass. I’m hoping that in this season they try to focus on the few things that the show still has left; Peter, Sylar, Noah. Not only that, I’m hoping they make this season something meaningful. I’m tired of watching a bunch of people chasing a bunch of other people. I want there to be a common goal between humans and heroes. As Tracy Strauss put it, perhaps they don’t need to hunt them down, but find a way to help them.
We need the mystery of the show to come back. We don’t need cheesy one-liners, useless characters, and misguided plots. Bring back the Heroes we all know and love.
