Teaser trailers have only one goal; to give the viewer almost no information at all and still captivate enough to generate buzz. Most fail miserably while few triumph.
Trailer-making is an art form that is often abused and bastardized (cough, cough, AVATAR!!!!…. cough). Every once in a while, however, you’ll get the really good ones like The Ring, Cloverfield, The Matrix, et al).
Case in point, Inception is one of the few teaser trailers in recent history that has truly captivated me while telling me nothing. First things first, watch it here:
Everything from the choice of imagery to the music is superb. I truly think that since good movies seem to be an endangered species, the least studios can do is provide teasers as good as this one. What are some other teasers you’ve loved?
