I was recently at the checkout cashier in a local supermarket and saw something that took me back to 1998.

WatchmenRemember when DVDs were starting to become the norm but VHS was still everywhere? Having always been a film enthusiast I’ve always wanted to see everything on DVD and widescreen.

During the (unnecessarily) long transition from VHS to DVD I wasn’t exactly opposed to watching things on VHS. The biggest problem I had with VHS was the fact that most movies on VHS were full screen. I hate full screen with a passion, and in a world where almost every tv sold in the past three or four years is a widescreen tv I thought full screen movies were a thing of the past. In fact, production of VHS tapes officially stopped last year.

Imagine my surprise when I see Watchmen, of all films, on DVD for sale at a local supermarket… full screen edition. Really? Full screen? WATCHMEN? A film that caters to the geeks of the world who are more than likely to have widescreen tvs and be up with the latest tech? C’mon!

agreed- even more tragic is that someone let that movie even be released to begin with. some things are better left as comics, books, action figures, etc.

I would have to disagree in the case of this film. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. In MOST cases though, yes, they should be left alone.
