If you’re an iPhone user, tools are becoming more and more readily available to do all of your blogging on the go. Developers are also getting the tools they need to tweak their designs from anywhere.

I was recently on a flight from JFK to LAX on American Airlines, and to my surprise they had WiFi access. I wrote a bit about WiFi on airlines earlier this week. Half way through the flight, and half way through writing an article, the battery on my laptop went out. I was forced to finish it on iPhone. Since I had never been forced to do it all from my iPhone, I had never really used its capabilities to the fullest. I was surprised as to how much I could get done from that little device. So here are some tools that every blogger and web developer could use.

The first is FTP On The Go ($6.99). This is a surprisingly robust app allowing you to not only connect to your server, it allows you to move files, create directories, edit permissions, and even edit your PHP files. Quite something.

The next two are CSS CheatSheet and PHP CheatSheet. These Apps are $.99 each, and well worth it. They list every possible CSS and PHP tag with a description of what they do and examples of how to use them.

If you’re a Wordpress user, Wordpress for the iPhone is a must. My goal is to create a robust theme for my blog which will also allow me to update the blog from anywhere. Being able to do this without having to worry about elements I only have control over from a computer is amazing. I can blog on the bus on my way to work. Wordpress for the iPhone does need some work (check out my wish list), however for now it’s better than nothing.

To finish up we need to have stats available to us at all times. So last, but certainly not least, I give you Analytics App ($5.99), to get your Google Analytics fix at all times. I’ve become an addict and have this app on my iPhone’s dock at all times.
