Yes, Indy 4 made $787 million worldwide, and no, not all fans of the Indiana Jones series hated it. I, for one, didn’t like it. And the fact that movies get sequels simply because they make money I think is absurd when the story suffers. There’s no release date yet, but it looks like Indy 5 will indeed get made. There’s a lot of questions that come into play here; will the film focus on Harrison, or on Shia? Will they ruin it again with as many special effects? Shia says no.

In other news, Transformers 3 is slated for release in 2012 (BBC article). According to Michael Bay, Paramount wanted him to have the film out by July 4th, 2011, but Mike wants a break:

“Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 – they asked me on the phone – I said yes to 4 July – but for 2012 – whoops! Not 2011!!!
“That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.”

I’m also not a fan of the Transformers franchise. I found it interesting, and kind of noble actually, that in his interview he admits to the fact that the Transformers franchise isn’t really a thinker. You also gotta give him credit for not comparing his films to The Elephant Man.
