The time has come for Conan O’Brien to prove to the world that he’s worthy of the famous Tonight Show. He started as a young creative writer for The Simpsons and went on to host Late Night for 16 years. In my opinion he did his job way better than Leno ever did his, and I can’t wait to see what he does with The Tonight Show.

I’ll have to admit, his debut was a little less than stellar. I’ve been a huge fan of his for years, and I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of the show. I’ve seen enough to know what is good Conan content, what is bad, and what is simply average. During his ten-year celebration show he showcased some of his best material throughout the years, and to be honest, I’ve never laughed so hard. I feel that his promotion to the Tonight Show is monumentally bigger that a ten-year celebration, and its content should have been better.
I have to say I AM quite impressed with the fact that pretty much every member of the team made the move to LA, at least everyone that’s on-screen. The Max Weinberg 7 is now the Max Weinberg and the Tonight Show Band with all of its original members. Andy Richter came back which couldn’t be more appropriate, though I can see how Jay Leno fans won’t like him. The same way that I couldn’t stand Jay Leno’s side kick (I forget his name), I’m sure that Leno fans won’t like Andy. Too bad, because he’s here to stay.
I heard some people say that his set was just not that good, but I would say, au contraire, mon frère, the set was spectacular. I was very impressed.
All in all, the I couldn’t be happier that he’s in my town. I wish I could have seen him in his natural habitat, but I’ll have to take what I can get. At least he’s here to stay, and I can see him any night I want. Rock on Conan, you deserve it and I couldn’t be happier for you.

Agree there were some spotty parts to the debut, and Andy really doesn’t have the ‘announcer voice’ unfortunately. He’ll grow into it though, and yes the set rules in very Art Deco fashion (perfectly matching the ‘old Hollywood’ design aesthetic of the new credits). And last night Obama dropping into the Cone Zone with Brian Williams, classic…
I agree too. I was talking to my friend the other night and expressed the exact feelings. He said “It’s his first show, he’s just testing out the waters first. It will get better.” Completely missing the point. Of course things are slow at first, but there should have been 10 guests, an extravaganza, and funny as hell skits, for at least the FIRST show, then go back to boring forum maybe the second show. Bottom line he deserved better and we deserved better. Even the third show was way better, best one yet.
p.s. Will Farrel sucks balls.
