I’m a sucker for daydreaming about the future of technology and where we might be in 1, 5, 10 years and more. I went around looking for some good articles about the subject and found one describing several types of future technology.

The Charging Pad: This idea has been around for a while. Wireless charging. The way this works is with inductive and conductive charging, which means you can place your laptop or cell phone on a charging pad and you’re set. Pretty neat.

Flexible Screens: This will be standard. We’ve been hearing about these little guys for a while, and we damn well know the possible applications. Especially with devices like the Kindle and the iPhone coming out, we’ve grown to love having computers in our pocket. Flexible and foldable screens will revolutionize portable and mobile computing.

Olfactory Advertising: This is one that I never thought of before. Billboards and ads will emit smells to try to entice customers. NTT Communications issued a press release a couple of years ago announcing their study.

yeah, that wireless charging thing has been around since Mr. Tesla. Mr. Edison won that race because they could not figure out how to sell wireless power- a shotty system for delivering it (for a price) was instead developed (thanks Edison Electric).

Future of technology = nanobots for sure.
