I just learned this trick and was completely blown away. There’s been countless times where I’ve needed full hi-res icons of applications on my Mac, but have been unable to find any. With this trick you’ll be in heaven.

Head over to your Applications folder and find the one you want. Select the application and copy it (Cmd+C, Edit-Copy). Open Preview and open new from Clipboard. You’ll not only have a full hi-res version of the icon, you’ll have every size, even the 8-bit version. Amazing.
