Wolverine promised to bring us an in-depth look at Logan’s past and shed some light on how he came to be the Wolverine. I had the misfortune chance to see it, so I thought I would share it’s pluses and minuses.

The film has several good ideas but unfortunately falls short on delivery. The reason for which I quite enjoyed the X-Men films was mainly because the characters had some depth. They were interesting and had very few “pun” moments (particularly 2 and 3). The filmmakers this time around decided that every character in Origins was good enough without any of that. Every character in the film is a two-dimensional piece of cardboard that could’ve been played by anyone. Not only that, the movie is filled with gimmicks that we’ve seen a thousand times.
Things that were good ideas/questions but were answered poorly:
Where did Adamantium come from?
How old is Wolverine?
How did he come up with that name?
Did he have any family?
Actually, the way we learn how old Wolverine really is was actually pretty sweet, and I was OK with the Adamantium thing, it was just so cheesy.
The sad part is that I didn’t go into this film expecting Shakespeare. I knew what I was going to see and my expectations were low. However, the film still had big shoes to fill considering Wolverine is probably the biggest name in the X-Men series. Speaking of which, the film had several cameos, including Gambit. This was the one character that I always hoped to see in the previous X-Men films. Sad to say most of his scenes were absolute cheese.
Save your money, rent it on Netflix.
thanks for the heads up. So bring my “inner” hype down then……had a feeling that would happen
I love that he was born in Canada before there was a Canada and then he started to age and suddenly stopped at the age Hugh Jackman is and remained there through a couple of world wars and for the rest of the movie.
I know! I didn’t even think of that. If he had abilities at such an early age, why would the aging stop when he’s so much older?
