I was lucky enough to attend the premiere of I Love You, Man last night, the new Paul Rudd and Jason Segel comedy, in Westwood, CA thanks to my buddy from Joe’s Daily. The premiere was filled with star power. I spotted Ben Stiller (as well as his wife and parents), Jon Favreau, and even Ron Jeremy.

The comedy isn’t at the caliber as Tropic Thunder but definitely belongs in the same group of comedies as Knocked Up, Wedding Crashers and others. It’s filled with quotable one-liners, and what really makes the film are the supporting cast like Jon Favreau, Andy Samberg, and more. Every single one of them was spot on and delivered the right amount of comedy to every scene.
Paul Rudd did a fantastic job. I’ve always been a Rudd fan and find him hilarious. I’m still used to seeing him in supporting roles like Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Knocked Up, so it was a little strange to see him in the lead. I’m glad he pulled through though. Even so, I can’t wait until they write a role for him specifically like they do for the Ben Stillers and Will Farrells of the world.

Rudd is my boy, so I will see it. This Jason Segel guy, however, annoys the hell out of me from what I’ve seen.
