The House voted on delaying the switch from analog to digital, originally to take place on February 17th, until June 12th. The reason they cite is that the american people need more time to convert their televisions, and if we were to flip the switch now more than 6 million households would be left in the dark.

News flash: There will always be people left in the dark. Half the public can’t even remember the date when the switch is supposed to happen, some even completely oblivious to the fact that it’s happening at all. Guess what? These 6 million households had over 3 years to make the switch, what makes you think they’re gonna do it in the next 4 months?
Another reason for the delay could be the fact that, according to InformationWeek, the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration spent all $1.34 billion it had to help people and businesses make the switch to digital while still not sufficiently helping everyone make the switch. To be honest, I just don’t care anymore.
